This Playgo toy looks like a box of eggs from the shop: six eggs in a mint green plastic egg box with a lid. Every egg comes apart into two halves, and inside are a shape, a colour and a number that belong to one matching half and to no other.
The game is simple: tip everything out of the box, mix the halves up and find the pairs again. Along the way your toddler names shapes, sorts colours and comes across numbers. Opening and closing the eggs is exactly the kind of fiddly work children of that age will keep at.
The box states 13 pieces and an age marking of 12 months and up. The egg box doubles as storage, so everything stays together and goes along easily in the changing bag or to daycare.
A present that outlasts the sorting game itself: once the shapes are known, the eggs move on to the toy kitchen.
