The elephant from Fisher-Price's Planet Friends range is really a comforter: a small head with a body, and attached to it two ears that together are far bigger than the elephant itself.
Those ears are the whole idea. Each ear has two sides in different fabric - light blue velour and light green satin at the front, dark blue plush at the back - so there is always something different under the fingers. A baby who can do very little yet can already feel this, pull at it and hold it against a cheek.
The comforter is light and flat, so it fits without trouble in a buggy, a car seat or a changing bag, and according to Mattel it is machine washable. The card carries the age marking 3 m+.
A quiet new-baby present, and with a bit of luck the thing that has to come along everywhere for years to come.
