The FP Pets click-and-twist puppy from Fisher-Price is a dachshund in cheerful colours, built up from segments that each do something different. The body holds a clear roller with beads that rattle, and the tail holds a clicker.
The rattling parts are made to be shaken and twisted, two movements a baby learns to combine with both hands. The ears are fabric, with paw prints on the inside, and tags hang from them for small fingers to fiddle with.
No batteries are needed: every sound comes from the beads and the clicker themselves. The dog has been kept small so it can travel in a bag, in the buggy or in the car. Mattel gives it from 6 months.
A little present for a baby who is just starting to grab and wants to turn everything over to see what happens next.
