This pale blue toy coffee machine is the setting for barista role-play. It has a cheerful little face, a dial on top, a clear dome with toy beans inside, a wand on the side and a small screen with colours and shapes.
Your child pretends: 'grinding' beans with the dial, 'frothing' milk at the wand, 'making' a cup and then bringing it over. Nothing real comes out of the machine — it is a toy — but the ordering, serving and paying is exactly the point.
Ten play pieces come with it: two cups with lids, a milk jug, a spoon, a croissant and a macaron, a takeaway bag and a cup carrier. The alphabet is printed along the base of the machine. The machine holds more than a hundred songs, sounds and phrases about letters, colours and shapes, spread over three learning levels you set with a slider.
