Black sail carrying wing spots in red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple, a red body in the middle and a tail of rainbow ribbons: the Didak Beach Tropical Butterfly is built to be seen from the ground. In this version, Medium, it measures 104 by 55 cm.
Mind which size you order. Didak Beach also makes this butterfly as a Large, and at 208 by 109 cm that one is nearly twice the size. This is the Medium - a good metre across, and so the size a child can still carry and rig alone.
It is a single-liner: no steering, just giving line and letting it climb. The ribbons on the tail make what the wind is doing visible and keep the kite on track, even when the breeze drops off.
A kite that stands out from a distance is good company on a beach or an open field, if only because you pick it out again straight away among all the others.
