A pinwheel from Giobas's Jumbo range. The vanes measure 45 cm across and turn on a pin at the top of a round wooden stick; in total the article is about 110 cm long, so it stands well clear of a planter.
The blades are thin coloured plastic and overlap in blue, purple, magenta, red, orange, yellow and green, so the colours run into one another once the thing gets going. The manufacturer gives 0.7 mm for the plastic and 16 mm across for the stick.
Push the stick into the soil of a flower bed, into a planter on the terrace or into the sand at the seaside, and the wind does the rest. A child can just as easily hold it and walk along until it starts turning.
A cheerful addition to a garden or a balcony, and an easy thing to hand over for a party outdoors or a day at the coast.
