This set holds four sand moulds, each with a different savannah animal: a monkey, an elephant, a lion and a hippo. They are shaped so that the animal comes out whole, with head, ears and legs, rather than as a flat figure.
Children pick up the recipe at once: scoop sand in, press it down firmly, turn it over and lift carefully. If it does not work first time, the sand is too dry - a splash of water and it will. Line the four animals up and within a few minutes there is a procession along the edge of the sandpit.
They are light moulds that take up little room in a bucket or a beach bag, and after playing you simply rinse the sand off under the tap. They work with beach sand as well as with the drier sand from a sandpit, as long as you dampen it.
Nice as a small present, or to keep in reserve for the seaside, the playground or the sandpit at grandma's.
