The Ultra AMP belongs to the Nerf Ultra range and works with a motor rather than a spring. You press the acceleration button, wait for the wheel to come up to speed and then pull the trigger for one dart at a time. The box holds the blaster, a detachable clip for six darts, six Ultra darts and the instructions.
A built-in sight on top helps you line up your shot. Hasbro quotes a range of up to 36 metres, and the box prints the same figure, with the usual caveat in the small print beneath it.
Count on six AA batteries (1.5 V, LR6); they are not in the box, and without them the motor does nothing. Read this before you buy as well: Ultra darts fit Ultra blasters only. Darts from an Elite or Mega box will not work here, and the other way round they will not either.
The box carries a roundel reading from 8 years. As a gift the AMP works above all for someone already in the Ultra range or just starting out: one box puts a blaster, a clip and ammunition in the house at once.
