Furby is back, and this coral-red version has a bright tuft, turquoise ears and big blinking eyes. It is a plush toy with electronics inside: it listens, answers, dances and lights its ears in changing colours. It stands a good 15 cm tall.
You wake it with the heart button and your voice. There are five modes - dancing, copying, fortune telling, winding down and a light show - together good for more than 600 phrases, jokes and songs. It also responds to a hug, to a stroke on the head, to being shaken and to pretend-feeding with its pizza charm.
Important before you order: this item number is the French-language edition. Furby therefore speaks French, alongside its own Furbish. It runs on 4 AA batteries, which are not included. Clip-on beads and a small comb come with it, for styling its tuft and making bracelets.
A present that stands out, and in a bilingual household or for a child learning French at school that French voice is exactly the point. Anyone looking for a Dutch-speaking Furby needs a different item.
