Cats & Boxes is a compact brainteaser from SmartGames featuring five cat pieces and four movable cardboard-box pieces set on a board with a lid. A challenge booklet with 60 puzzles, including solutions, sets the starting layout and the goal for each one.
The player slides the cats and boxes step by step along the grid lines on the board until every cat fits exactly into the box called for by the puzzle. Nothing is lifted or jumped over: every move is a slide, and each puzzle has only one correct solution.
The board folds shut and closes with a lid, so the pieces stay in place during transport. The 60 challenges progress from easy to expert, so the game grows with the player's experience. It is a single-player game, suitable for ages 7 to adult.
Its small size means the box fits easily into a bag for a trip or holiday. It makes a nice gift for a child who enjoys logical thinking, and thanks to the rising difficulty it's also a puzzle an adult can enjoy.
