The box holds a block with the bones of a Tyrannosaurus rex hidden inside it, plus the tools to get them out: a small hammer, a chisel and a scraper. The child chips the block away piece by piece, sets the loose bones aside and then builds up the skeleton following the booklet.
The box lays it out in three steps: dig in the blocks of earth, find the forgotten fossils, rebuild the skeleton. This is not a quarter of an hour's work, and that is precisely the appeal. The result stands up on its own and usually ends up on a shelf in the bedroom.
The skeleton is phosphorescent. Leave it in the light for a while and it glows afterwards in a dark room, as the box puts it: “S'illumine dans le noir”. The pack also mentions a free app, Legendary Creatures, which brings the T-rex up in augmented reality on a tablet.
The box carries the age 7+ and 'Made in Europe'. Note that this is the French-language edition: packaging and instructions are in French. A gift for a child who is into dinosaurs and likes patient work with their hands.
