This is the laboratory box from Clementoni's Science & jeu range. The packaging says itself what you get: real laboratory accessories and more than fifty experiments. In the photograph you can make out test tubes, a funnel, a pipette, a measuring beaker, a spoon, a cardboard stand and a pair of protective goggles.
Many of the experiments start from what is already in the kitchen cupboard. On the box, red cabbage goes through the funnel and a lemon wedge lies beside the tubes; the booklet walks step by step through the series, from mixing and filtering to reading off a change of colour.
The box gives the age 8+ and 'Made in Italy'. Worth knowing beforehand: this is the French edition, so the packaging and the instructions are in French. Anyone who does not read French is best doing the experiments alongside someone who does.
A gift for a child who likes working out how something fits together and can already follow a series of steps unaided. It is also a box that lends itself to sitting down together at the kitchen table, one experiment at a time.
