The Pixicade Mobile Game Maker turns on a simple idea: what you draw, you can play. The box holds three drawing books, five Pixicade markers and a QR code that unlocks the free Pixicade app.
It goes in three steps, as the box names them: DRAW A GAME, SNAP A PHOTO, PLAY & SHARE. You draw a level with the markers, each colour standing for something different in the game, you photograph it with the app, and moments later your own character is running through your own drawing. The side of the box lists seven ways to play, from mazes to goal games.
You do need a phone or tablet with a camera: the box reads 'For iOS and Android devices'. The age is printed there too, in two halves: 10+ to do it yourself, 6+ with help from someone else.
A gift for a child who likes drawing and likes gaming, and for parents who would rather see those two come together than stay apart.
