Plasticine is the soft, oil-based modelling clay that does not dry out. Today's little creature can be squashed flat tomorrow and used again, and the colours blend into one another to make shades that are not in the wallet.
Rolling, kneading, flattening, cutting and poking: the point is the doing. Neon colours show up best next to dark ones or on dark paper, and the clay sticks to paper too, so flat pictures work just as well as figures.
