The Starter Set is Play-Doh's entry box. It holds four pots of modelling clay - blue, green, red and yellow, 227 grams in all - and nine tools: four cutters, a rolling pin, a pair of scissors, a knife, a cutting wheel and a stamp.
Everything packs into a clear zip bag with a loop to carry it by. After play it all goes back in, and the bag travels to grandma's or into the holiday luggage.
Children roll, press, cut and stamp, and what comes out does not have to resemble anything. That is the point: the set supplies the tools and leaves the rest wide open. Four colours is just enough to learn about mixing without the whole supply turning grey in one afternoon.
The packaging states 3+. A good first Play-Doh present, and a useful addition if there are already clay tools in the house.
