A harbour town in autumn, painted by Chuck Pinson and released here as a 1500-piece jigsaw. Fishing boats lie moored beside red wooden sheds, and behind them the houses climb the hill up to the white church tower and the little bell tower at the top.
A painted image behaves differently from a photograph: the areas of colour are larger and softer. You work outwards from the clear lines here, from the hulls, the roofs and the jetties towards the water and the foliage. The autumn palette of orange, rust and turquoise helps.
The box states a finished size of 84.5 x 59.5 cm, with a poster inside to use as a guide. The compact box takes up noticeably less room than the standard puzzle box.
A gift for anyone who likes quiet scenes with a story in them, and is happy to spend a few evenings on one.
