A stylus is a pen without ink: you work a touchscreen with it instead of with your finger. The Pad Writer has a slim metal shaft, a coloured lower section and a soft round tip that drives the screen.
At the top sits a small ring with a black wrist strap. That strap is the difference between a pen you find again and one that lives behind the sofa.
The manufacturer's image shows the pen in use on a tablet and sets three device sizes beside it: a phone and two tablet formats. The pen exists in four colours - white, pink, black and grey - and which colour you receive is not fixed.
Handy for anyone who would rather draw or write on a screen than tap, and small enough to carry in a case or a coat pocket.
