Each of the five squeeze bottles in this Tie Dye Fashion set already holds its dye powder. You fill the bottle with water up to the line, shake it until the colour has dissolved, and then squeeze it straight onto the fabric. This version has the colours red, orange, lime, teal and violet: the warm end of the spectrum with two cooler shades alongside.
The pattern is made by the fold. By twisting, pleating or tying off the fabric before you spray the colour on, some stretches stay pale while others fill up. That is how you get the spiral, the block pattern and the rings pictured on the card: those T-shirts show what the dye can do.
The pack states 59 pieces in total and 1.62 oz (45.8 g) of dye. According to the card the dye works on 100% cotton, rayon and silk, so before you start, take a look at the care label of the garment you want to recolour. No age marking is printed on the pack.
A set for anyone who wants to give a T-shirt, some socks or a pillowcase a second life, and a rewarding way to fill a rainy Wednesday afternoon or a birthday party in the garden.
