This is the large size of the familiar growing egg. The box holds a speckled egg with a white unicorn inside, with coloured mane and golden hooves. You put the egg in a bowl of cold water, and from then on it is a matter of waiting.
After 24 to 48 hours the shell cracks open and the unicorn appears. That is not the end of it: as long as the water stays above the rim of the egg, the figure keeps expanding, and after about fifteen days it is fully grown. The packaging states that the unicorn grows up to 50 cm.
Checking every day how much it has gained is really the whole game here. A child who stands at the bowl every morning before breakfast gets more out of it than out of many a toy that is finished after a quarter of an hour.
The egg is supplied in a random colour - blue, pink or purple - so you cannot choose in advance. A nice little present for anyone who collects unicorns.
