In the police range from the Spanish maker Gonher, this is the big one: a toy revolver shaped like a magnum, with a cylinder that holds twelve shots. It is built from a combination of metal and plastic.
You drop a ring of twelve caps into the cylinder and close it again. Every pull of the trigger turns the cylinder one position further and sets off a single cap. Twelve in a row is twice what the eight-shot pistols in the same range give you, and it shows in how often play stops for reloading.
The caps are not in the box; you buy those separately, in rings of twelve shots.
The revolver is made for role play: cops and robbers, a dressing-up party, a chase across the square. Gonher has been making this kind of toy in Spain for more than fifty years, in metal with plastic parts, and also carries eight-shot pistols in the same police range.
