The Didak Explorer is a flowform: a soft kite without a frame that fills with air through the openings at the front. There are no spars or rods in it, so after flying you simply fold the sail up.
This 4.8 is the larger of the two sizes in the range. The number stands for the area, so 4.8 square metres of sail, at a size of 200 by 240 cm. It is made up in blue and white, with the Explorer logo on the fabric and a bridle of lines gathering at the flying line.
Among kite flyers the model is known as a lifter, a kite that mainly develops pull and that is used for kite aerial photography among other things. Against the smaller Explorer 2.7, which measures 150 by 180 cm, this 4.8 puts up almost twice the sail area.
Didak is a Belgian kite maker. This article runs with them under number 21711648; its smaller brother is the Explorer 2.7.
