Premières additions belongs to La petite école, Nathan's range of educational games. The box holds six double-sided printed cards measuring 18.6 x 15 cm, 96 tokens with digits and arithmetic signs, and a game guide.
The game has six exercises that get harder step by step. First your child counts the animals on a card, then it looks for the missing digit in a sum, and finally for the answer to the addition. The cards are self-correcting, so your child can check whether the answer is right without anyone having to sit at the table with it.
The game is meant for one to four players and a round takes about ten minutes. The box states 5-7 years. Bear in mind that this is the French edition: the box and the game guide are in French. On the cards themselves it is mostly a matter of digits, signs and drawings.
Handy for families raising children bilingually or for children who go to school in French, and a quiet present for anyone just starting to count.
