Everyone knows the game where the floor is suddenly lava. Goliath has made a real game of it: the box holds 25 coloured foam platforms, 27 challenge cards, a spinner and the rules.
You spread the platforms around the room, each one a different colour. The spinner picks a colour and you have to jump to the nearest platform in that colour, however far away it lies. Touch the floor and you are out. The challenge cards make it harder: on one leg, eyes shut, backwards.
The box states 2 to 6 players from 5 years. No batteries are needed, and the game works just as well on the grass as indoors on the floor, so it is not tied to a season.
It is a present for children who cannot sit still, and the kind of game that fills half an hour by itself at a birthday party or on a rainy Wednesday afternoon. Grown-ups join in without much persuading.
