Sequence pairs a card game with a board. Every playing card appears somewhere on the board; play a card from your hand and you may put a chip on a square showing that same card. Whoever has two rows of five chips down, horizontally, vertically or diagonally, wins.
That sounds simple and it is, but you are sitting at a table with people who may have their eye on the same square. Choosing between extending your own row and blocking someone else's makes every turn a little less obvious than it looks.
The travel edition puts the same game in a small cardboard box. Goliath gives the contents as a game board, 75 chips in three colours, 54 playing cards and the rules, for 2 to 12 players from 7 years. Those three colours mean you can also play in teams.
A game that is quickly explained and still tactical, and one that its format turns into a fixture in a holiday house, on the train or in a rucksack.
