The set consists of a children's table and four chairs. The tabletop is white and rectangular and stands on four straight legs; the chairs have a curved backrest with two crossbars and are each finished in a colour of their own: green, orange, light blue and yellow.
At child height a table works differently from the kitchen table. Your child reaches it unaided, sits down when it wants to and gets up again without anybody lifting. Drawing, puzzles, modelling clay, a biscuit or a row of blocks all happen in the same place, and that place is not your table.
Four chairs means there is room for a brother, a sister or a friend, and that a birthday party does not have to happen on the floor. The white top stays neutral enough for a living room; the coloured chairs give the corner its childlike character.
A set like this is typically a present from grandparents or from a godmother and godfather: too big for under the Christmas tree, but something that is used every day afterwards.
